Doull, James A. (James Angus), 1889-1963
Variant namesBorn in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia in 1889 James Angus Doull received his M.D. from Halifax's Dalhousie University in 1914. Before spending the 1920s as an associate in epidemiology and an associate professor at Johns Hopkins University, Doull earned public health degrees at both Cambridge and Johns Hopkins. From 1930 to 1945 he taught hygiene and public health at Western Reserve University while also conducting public health surveys for the Public Health Service. He served as a member of the U.S. delegation at the International Health Conference in 1946 which organized the World Health Organization. From 1948 until his death in 1963 Doull was Medical Director of the Leonard Wood Memorial for the Eradication of Leprosy.
