Drayton, James Shoolbred, 1820-1867
Surveyor. The son of Dr. Charles Drayton (1785-1844) and Mary Middleton Shoolbred (1794-1855), and grandson of Charles Drayton (1743-1820) of Drayton Hall, James Shoolbred Drayton was born on Jehosse Island (Charleston County, S.C.) in 1820 and married Louisa Eleanor Elford (d. 1851) in 1844. His second wife was Louisa A. Willis (d. 1867), whom he married in 1862. James S. Shoolbred died in Brazoria County, Texas.
