Born at Athol, Mass., son of Joseph and Alice W. (Mann) Stratton. Wed Mary Tryphena Goddard 1874. Received a Ph. D. from Wesleyan University, principal and teacher at various schools, appointed professor of Greek at Fargo College in 1906. Served as dean from 1906-1911, and college librarian. Continued his work at Fargo College until its closure in 1922. Died in New York, buried at Bethlehem, Penn.
