Morgan, William H., b. ca. 1839.
A native of Indiana, Morgan was living with his parents and five younger siblings, farming in Mattoon, Coles County, Illinois. He enlisted in the 38th Illinois Infantry, Company E as a private on August 2, 1861. He was promoted to sergeant and transferred to the signal corps in November 1863.
