Denison Densmore II, the grandfather of Jeanne Densmore Lamphere, was the son of Eli Lauraine Densmore (1851-1924) and Ella Flint (1856-1945). Eli, of West Topsham, was an auctioneer, general merchant, and dealer in horses, fertilizers, carriages, and harnesses. Ella was the daughter of Alonzo Flint (1825-1863) and Caroline Russell (1830-1891). Eli and Ella lived in West Topsham, Brookfield, Montpelier and Barre, Vermont. Denison Densmore II was born March 22, 1876 and died June 1964. Lauraine Densmore was the son of Denison Densmore II (1876-1964) and Josephine Lorena Wheeler. He was born April 10, 1899 and died in October, 1969.

Jeanne Densmore Lamphere's mother, Ruth Chalmers, was the daughter of William H. Chalmers (1862-1904) and Minne Jane Buxton (1864-1955) of Topsham. William H. Chalmers was a carriage manufacturer and a member of the Bradford Guard of the Vermont National Guard. He died on September 9, 1904, while returning from maneuvers in Manassas, Virginia.

William H. Chalmers's father was William Wallace Chalmers (1839-1897). He was born in Newbury, Vermont, served in Company D or the 15th Vermont Volunteers during the Civil War, and was a blacksmith and sheetwright in Topsham.

William H. Chalmers's wife, Minnie, was the daughter of Mary Jane Parmenter (1837-1924) and Benjamin F. Buxton (1833-1891) of Brookfield, Vermont. Her first husband died in 1904 leaving her with 12 children. In 1916 she married Amos Merrill. She purchased the Riverside Annex on State Street in Montpelier and ran it as a hotel for many years.
