Alexey (Inuit hunter and dog driver), d. 1881
Variant names
Alexey (also Alexei), Inuit hunter and dog driver, was a member of the ill-fated USS Jeanette Expedition. Alexey perished with other members of the expedition crossing the ice of the Lena Delta in the months after the Jeannette sank on June 13, 1881, in the Arctic ice pack. Alexey died on October 17, 1881.
