Jessie Dale Dixon Sayler was born in Savannah, Georgia. She married Lieut. Henry B. Sayler of the Coast Artillery Corps. on October 6, 1917 in Savannah. She was appointed Collector of Customs in 1954, appointed by President Eisenhower she was the first female to hold the position in Savannah. Jessie was also active in many community organizations and clubs. They had three children, Henry B. Sayler, Jr., Dale Morgan (Sayler), and John M. Sayler. Both sons graduated from West Point. Jessie Dale Dixon Saylor died December 24, 1987. Both she and her husband are buried in Arlington National Cemetery.
