Smythe, Dallas W.
Dallas Walker Smythe (b. 1907) was a political activist and researcher. His research focus centered on broadcasting and communications, and during his career he worked for several government agencies, including the Federal Communications Commission. Smythe additionally worked at the University of Illinois Communications Research Institute and served as the Director of Studies for the National Association of Educational Broadcasters. He authored several television monitoring studies which were distributed by the NAEB. Smythe died in 1992.
