Denton Moore Robinson was born on December 7, 1877, in Lincoln, Nebraska. He matriculated at the University of Nebraska in 1896. He may have worked in the gold mines at Terry, North Dakota, and by 1917 was on Long Island, New York, He was trained at the Art Students' League in New York City and worked in New York City as an illustrator of fashions with Robinson and Battestin.

In 1923, while living in Bergen County, New Jersey, Robinson and his wife Josephine bought a house and thirty acres in the Williamsville section of Newfane, Vermont. He may not have moved to Vermont until 1932. During his first stay in Vermont, Robinson worked at the Murray Heel Company and the Estey Organ Corporation, both in Brattleboro, Vermont.

After the death of his wife in July, 1942, Robinson moved to San Diego, California where he was a sheet metal worker for the Aircraft Industrial Army of Consolidated Vultee Aircraft Corporation. In 1946 Robinson moved back to Newfane to live until his death on October 10, 1953. He was buried in Wyuka Cemetery, Lincoln, Nebraska.
