Lee Hansley (1948-2019) owned and operated the Lee Hansley Gallery in Raleigh, N.C. Prior to that he was also curator of the Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art (SECCA) in Winston-Salem, N.C.

Hansley studied journalism at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, afterwards working as city editor at the Daily Herald (Roanoke Rapids, N.C.), and editor-in-chief at the Northampton News (Jackson, N.C.), Roanoke-Chowan News-Herald (Ahoskie, N.C.), Halifax County This Week (Scotland Neck, N.C.), The Suburbanite (Winston-Salem, N.C.), and The Weekender (Winston-Salem, N.C.). He also worked for several years as promotion director at WUNC-FM.
