Petra Higuera was an Indigenous potter from Santa Catarina, Baja California, Mexico. She has been identified both as Kwatl/Kuatl (a southern Kumeyaay lineage) and as Paipai. Higuera was married to Eugenio Albañez and had at least one son. She had a granddaughter named Amalia. She was reported to be in her 70s in the early 1960s, so was likely born in approximately the 1890s.
Higuera interacted with U.S. researchers in the 1950s and 1960s, including archaeologist Norton Allen and anthropologist Ralph C. Michelsen. These men photographed and wrote about her life, work, and family.
