Lesbian Review of Books.

Hide Profile

The Lesbian Review of Books was published from 1994 through 2002 from Hilo, Hawaii and was edited and published by Dr. Loralee MacPike. She is a retired professor of English from California State University, San Bernardino. Before her work on the LRB she served on the editorial boards of National Women's Studies Association Journal and The Journal of Lesbian Studies .

The Review ceased publication generally for financial reasons: subscriptions declined, a number of Lesbian and/or feminist publishers went out of business, and distributors who owed money to The Review went out of business. Dr. MacPike also believed that more Lesbian authors were being published by mainstream publishers who place advertising in publications with higher circulation, resulting in a decline in advertising revenue.
