Variant namesAshley Elizabeth Hinson (née Arenholz; born June 27, 1983) is an American politician. A member of the Republican Party, she has served as the U.S. Representative for Iowa's 1st congressional district since 2021.
Born in Des Moines, Iowa, she graduated from Valley High School in West Des Moines, Iowa before earning a B.A. from the University of Southern California. Following graduation, Hinson began her career as an anchor for KCRG-TV, spending nearsly a decade there. In 2016, she decided to run for Iowa's 67th House District, based in Linn County, Iowa, winning the first of two terms in the competitive district. In 2020, Hinson defeated incumbent Abby Finkenauer in Iowa's 1st congressional district.
In the 117th Congress, Hinson sits on the Committee on Appropriations and the Committee on Budget. She is a member of the Republican Study Committee.
