Tomlinson, Ephraim, 1695-1780

Ephraim Tomlinson was a Quaker from southwestern New Jersey. He was born on 9 September 1695, New Style (29 6th month, Old Style). Tomlinson's parents lived at some distance from European settlements, and he claimed to have regularly walked ten miles to meeting as a child. In 1727 he married Sarah Carbut. Tomlinson was devout in his religious observations and was eventually appointed an Elder of Haddonfield Monthly Meeting. He died on the 2nd of 8th month, 1780, and was buried at Haddonfield.
