MacLachlan (Barnard College A.B., 1918) was a lifelong friend of the English Poet Laureate John Masefield (1878-1967). She was the daughter of James Alexander MacLachlan and Mary MacLachlan; her brother was Howard James MacLachlan (Columbia Unviersity A.B., 1916; LL.B., 1918).
