Washington Seminary was founded in 1878. It was primarily a college preparatory school and in 1953 merged with North Avenue Presbyterian School to form Westminster Schools.

In 1878, Lola and Anita Washington founded the Misses Washington's School for Girls in Atlanta, Georgia. In 1882, the name was changed to the Washington Seminary and the school remained under the direction of the Washington's until 1885. The school was then sold to Mrs. Robert Emory Park who was director until 1891 when Alice E. Chandler took charge. Mrs. Chandler died in 1904 and she was succeeded by her nephew and niece, Llewellyn D. Scott and Emma B. Scott. In 1953, the Washington Seminary was merged into The Westminster Schools.
