On March 15, 1954, the Public Relations Office became the Panama Canal Public Information Office (IO), also known as the Information Office, the Panama Canal Information Office, and the Public Information Office. The Office was responsible for public relations and information activities; press services; public affairs; and the Canal Zone Guide Service. It also was in charge of publications, such as Panama Canal Review and The Spillway.
