The Administrative Committee on Research, formed in 1957, is an executive group in charge of research management at Penn State. It replaced an earlier Council on Research formed in 1928, and continued the publication of the annual report, "Research in Progress." As funding for research burgeoned in the late 1950s, the responsibilities of the Council on Research grew to an amount beyond their control. The Administrative Committee was established to work solely with directorial and organizational concerns. In 1972, the group was reorganized into the Administrative Council on Research. Duties include decision- and policy-making and the facilitation of researcher networking.
