Ellen Mark Bush of Charleston, West Virginia, attended the Woman's College of the University of North Carolina (now UNCG) from 1946 to 1950. She was a member of the Adelphian Society. During her freshman year she was in the Playlikers and the Square Circle. During her sophomore year she was a member of the Playlikers, Square Circle and Masqueraders. During her junior year she was a member of the Playlikers, the Square Circle, the Masqueraders and a Proctor. Her senior year she was a member of the Playlikers, World Federalist, the Square Circle, Masqueraders, the YWCA, Pine Needles and Wardrobe Mistress. She graduated in 1950 with a A.B. in History.
