White, Emma Haughton, 1853-1933

Emma Haughton White (1853-1933) was born March 27, 1853 in Raysville, Henry County, Indiana. She was the daughter of Charles and Lucy Haughton White. She attended Earlham College Prepartory(1869-1870) in Indiana. She married Elihu Anthony White (1824-1900) of Belvidere, N.C., a Quaker farmer, businessman, and collector of the United States Internal Revenue Service. They married in Raysville in 1885. White was heavily involved int he Women's Christian Temperance Union (W.C.T.U.) and was president of her local Union. She had five children and died April 11, 1933 in Belvidere, N.C. She is buried in the White - Nicholson Cemetery in Perquimans County, N.C.
