Jack Gordon was born in Detroit, Michigan, on June 3, 1922, and was educated at the University of Michigan. He served in the United States Army from 1943 to 1946. From 1947-1958 he served on the Miami Beach Housing Authority and from 1961 to 1968 he served on the Dade County Board of Public Instruction. Jack Gordon was elected to the Florida Senate in 1972 as a Democrat, representing Miami Beach, the 35th District, and retired in 1992.
He served as director of the Institute for Public Policy & Citizenship Studies at Florida International University. He is also associated with the Hospice Foundation.
