Edward Stephen, also known as Tanymarian.
Edward Stephen was born in 1822 in Merioneth. His real name was Edward Jones, but he adopted his grandfather's name, Stephen, and soon dropped the Jones. He attended the Bala Congregational College and in 1847 was ordained minister at Horeb Chapel in Penmaenmawr, Caernarfonshire. He was a composer of hymns as well as a poet. He died in 1885.
