Kelley, Robert, 1935-

American poet, short story writer, essayist, novelist, editor, and educator Robert Kelly has created a large body of work, much of which is experimental and which focuses on different modes of expression.

He has also encouraged other writers of experimental poetry and fiction through developing writing courses, holding workshops. Kelly has promoted their work in several literary magazines which he co-founded, such as Chelsea Review, Trobar, Matter, and Sulfur . Kelly is the Asher B. Edelman Professor of Languages and Literature at Bard College in New York, where he has taught since 1961.
