Unity Democratic Club (Brooklyn, N.Y.)
In 1960, civil rights advocate Shirley Chisholm and six other people founded the Unity Democratic Club, a political club whose purpose was to get blacks and Hispanics more involved and organized in politics, and to get black and Hispanic candidates elected to office, especially in their own districts.
