Montemayor, Alice Dickerson, 1902-1989
Artist and feminist, born in Laredo, Texas, in 1902.
Also known as Alicia Montemayor, Mrs. F.I. Montemayor, or as Monty; she signed her paintings Admonty. Worked as a clerk, supervisor, social worker, business operator, and school registrar before she began to paint at the age of 72. Served as a national vice-president of LULAC in 1937, the first woman to be elected to national office in that organization.
