Kirby Flower Smith was Professor of Latin, The Johns Hopkins University.

He was born in l862. He received the AB degree from the University of Vermont in 1884 and the Ph. D. in Latin from Hopkins in 1889. Professor Smith taught at Hopkins, 1889-1918, and published several books on the Roman elegiac poets. Kirby Flower Smith died in 1918.
