Served in U.S. Navy during WW II. Elected Mayor of Denver in 1947. Held office until 1955. Became president of the University of Colorado. Also president of the Commonwealth Foundation in New York. After retirement continued working as consultant for various firms. Active in non-profit and educational institutions. D.Denver, Colo., April 4, 2003.
