Lovis Corinth was a German painter and graphic artist, who married Charlotte Berend, also a painter. In 1905, they had a son, Thomas. Lovis died in 1925, and in 1939 Charlotte emigrated to the U.S., of which she became a citizen. Working on exhibitions and publications relating to her late husband, she also continued in her own painting. In 1967 she died in New York. Thomas has written about both his parents and has been a key figure in the Lovis Corinth Memorial Foundation in New York.
