Historian.

David O. True was born in Racine, Wisconsin and settled in Florida by the early 1930s. A graduate of Colgate University who also completed two years of post-graduate work at the University of Chicago, he devoted much of his time to research, writing, and editorial work. He was especially interested in the history of cartography and the voyages of early explorers such as Giovanni da Verrazzano, John Cabot, Pánfilo de Narváez, Ponce de Leon, and Hernando de Soto.
