Cornell University Latin American bibliographer from 1985 until his retirement in 2009. He played important roles in the Latin American Studies Program and the Einaudi Center. He had an outstanding international reputation and was a past president of the Seminar on the Acquisition of Latin American Library Materials (SALALM). He traveled regularly to Latin America to make presentations, do research, and purchase Library materials. He also has published widely, including a book on Mission Culture on the Upper Amazon. In 2005, he also became Curator of Native and Latin American Studies in the Division of Rare and Manuscript Collections.
