Riley, Stephen (Saxophonist)
Variant namesRiley had three sons, John, Peter, and James, born to an Ojibwa woman, Me-Naw-Cum-E-Go-Qua. The Rileys were mentioned in the Treaty of Saginaw, 1819. Stephen Riley was post master in Schenectady Co. (N.Y.), 1820-1837, and also sheriff there, 1809 and 1813. (Information from the collection.) Stroebel was a Saginaw (Mich.) historian and author. Several of his books and papers are at the Clarke Historical Library.
