Allen, John, 1771-1813.
A Kentucky lawyer and legislator, Allen served, with Henry Clay, as a defense attorney for Aaron Burr in the Burr Conspiracy trial held in Frankfort. During the War of 1812, Allen served as colonel in the 1st Rifle regiment of the Kentucky militia. He was killed while attempting to rally his troops at the Battle of River Raisin on January 22, 1813.
