The Norcross-Bartlett Expedition to Northeast Greenland, 1931, also known as the Bartlett-Norcross Expedition sailed on the Effie M. Morrisey with representatives of the Smithsonian Institution, the George Gustav Heye Foundation, the American Museum of Natural History, and the New York Botanical Garden. The objectives of the expedition were to gather flowering plants for the Botanical Gardens, specimens of wild fowl for the Museum of Natural History and narwhal and seals for the Ocean Hall of Life. In addition to this the expedition members carried out oceanographic, hydrographic and meteorological work for the U.S. Navy and the Smithsonian.
