Toomer's Drug Store.

Hide Profile

Located in Auburn, Ala., the store took its name from Sheldon Toomer, an 1893 graduate of Alabama Agricultural & Mechanical College (now Auburn University). Subsequent owners included McAdory Lipscomb, also an AU graduate and brother of Lan Lipscomb, owner of Lipscomb's Drug Store in the same block. The intersection of streets facing Toomer's Drug Store is called Toomer's Corner. AU students traditionally gather there to celebrate athletic, particularly football, victories.
