Benedict College. Office of the President
Benedict College founded in 1870 under the auspices of the American Home Missionary Society of the Baptist Church as Benedict Institute when Mrs. Bathsheba A. Benedict of Pawtucket, R.I., gave the society $5,000, a small bequest from her husband; originally designed to educate ministers and teachers the institution is now independent.
