Gillis family.
Grain farmers. Thomas and John Gillis lived in Trumbull County, Ohio as early as 1809. Thomas Gillis (d. 1846) was father of David T. Gillis. Robert Gillis was a member of Ohio Militia (1832). David T. Gillis sailed to California (1852). He farmed near Lodi, invented agricultural machinery (1874) and died (1888).
