A letter from this item's donor says, "By way of historical context, Aaron P. Christiansen was the eldest son of Parley Christiansen-whose journals you received earlier. Aaron followed in his father's footsteps and became a forest ranger for the Uinta National Forest and the Cache National Forest-both in Utah. In this role he made a number of significant contributions. For example, he built the first hiking trail to the top of Mt. Nebo in Juab County. And, he envisioned and began work on what has now been fully completed-the mountain "loop" road between Payson and Salt Creek Canyon east of Nephi, Utah.

Christiansen was born July 17, 1889 in Ephraim, Utah, and died in Logan, Utah, in 1950. He began his career with the United States Forest Service in Nephi and, in 1939, transferred to the Cache National Forest. He was stationed in Logan, Utah from this point until his death in 1950.

Aaron followed in his father’s footsteps and became a forest ranger for the Uinta National Forest and the Cache National Forest-both in Utah. In this role he made a number of significant contributions. For example, he built the first hiking trail to the top of Mt. Nebo in Juab County. And, he envisioned and began work on what has now been fully completed-the mountain loop road between Payson and Salt Creek Canyon east of Nephi, Utah. Presently he has two living children: Don P. Christiansen and Bernice C. Baugh, wife of Francis Baugh. The Baughs’ son, Alex, is on the BYU College of Religion faculty here.
