Delta Delta Delta. Theta Omicron Chapter (Walla Walla, Wash.)

Hide Profile

The first chapter of Delta Delta Delta was founded in 1888 at Boston University. In 1919, the Sigma Gamma local sorority was founded at Whitman College and granted a charter by the faculty overseers. The group sent a petition to the National Council of Delta Delta Delta in 1922 to become chartered. Whitman's Theta Omicron chapter was installed on January 20, 1923 as the 62nd chapter of the fraternity. At Whitman College, sorority activities included membership recruitment functions and participation in traditions such as the homecoming float parade and the annual Whitman Choral Contest. The Tri Deltas also held banquets and formal dances, and had fundraisers to support philanthropic causes. In May 2005, the Executive Office of Delta Delta Delta withdrew the charter of the Theta Omicron Chapter because of consistent and continuing low membership.
