Wooten, Mattie Lloyd
Professor of Sociology, Dean of Women, and Director of Department of Sociology at Texas State College for Women (later Texas Woman's University). One of the first scholars to take women in Texas history seriously, Wooten was the author of Women Tell the Story of the Southwest (1940), a collection of stories about early settlers.
