Hide Profile

T.F. McElroy, D.R. Bigelow and R.W. Moxlie were some of the early pioneers to Thurston County, WA. These early pioneers were very involved in their community and held several political offices in their lifetimes. T.F. McElroy brought the first newspaper to Olympia, WA; trustee of Olympia before its first elections; and mayor of Olympia. McElroy was awarded the contract as Territorial Printer in 1864. The contract made between Elwood Evans, Secretary of State of Washington Territory, and McElroy lasted one year and was renewed through about 1872. D.R. Bigelow was a founding pioneer and held many positions within the community including Justice of the Peace. R.W. Moxlie was an influential settler in the Thurston County area. He became the Sheriff of Thurston County, a position he held for a number of years. It is unclear what the suit between Ms. DeWolf and Mr. Fleming was about and why Mr. McElroy was paying the cost for her at that time.
