Clutterbuck, Thomas, 1623 or 1624-
Variant namesThomas Clutterbuck was born on 27 August 1623, the son of Samuel Clutterbuck, rector of Dinton, Buckinghamshire. He matriculated at Magdalen Hall, Oxford, in July 1639. In October of that year he was admitted a pensioner at Emmanuel College, Cambridge, but he returned to Oxford, where he subsequently graduated (B.A., 1643; M.A., 1646). He was made a Doctor of Divinity at Cambridge in 1669. Clutterbuck was a fellow of Magdalen College, Oxford, 1644-1648. He became rector of Leakford, Hampshire, 1660; rector of Llandrillo, Merioneth, 1660; rector of St Mary's, Southampton, 1662; and archdeacon of Winchester, 1684.
