The company was incorporated in Kentucky June 25, 1894. July 1, 1902 agreed to consolidate with Ohio and Big Sandy Railroad Company, Kentucky and South Atlantic Railroad Company, and Elizabethtown, Lexington and Big Sandy Railway Company to form Lexington and Big Sandy Railway Company.

April of 1897 operated by the Chesapeake and Ohio Railway Company. May 15, 1902 conveyed by deed to Big Sandy Railway Company all property and rights between White House, KY, and a point on the Kentucky-Virginia boundary where line intersects the Russell Fork of the Big Sandy River.
