Tony (Anthony) Palazzo was born April 7, 1905 in New York, New York. He studied at Columbia and New York Universities. He worked as an art director for various magazines for many years. In 1937, he worked as the disigner for the John Dos Passos book, The Villages Are the Heart Of Spain . In the 1940's, he began illustrating children's and young adult books. Mr. Palazzo received a Caldecott Honor Award in 1947 for Timothy Turtle by Al Graham. In 1949, he started to write children's books. Tony Palazzo illustrated and/or wrote and illustrated over 65 books for children and young adults. He died on September 10, 1970.
