Residents of Dover, Wilmington, and Christiana Hundred, Del. Rev. Thomas Crawford, first missionary from the Society for the Propagation of the Gospel to serve in Kent County; first rector of Christ Church, Dover, serving there until ca. 1709; married Elizabeth Meston whose mother was a member of the Brincklé family; he returned to Scotland because of problems with a previous marriage, returning to Dover late 1710 and lived for the rest of his life in Kent County. Dr. John Brincklé was born in Dover but moved to Wilmington in 1807 and became a doctor, establishing a medical practice. Joshua G. Brincklé, eldest son of John Brincklé, of Wilmington, became a lawyer and was active in the Masons. Rev. Samuel C. Brincklé, another son of John Brincklé, was ordained an Episcopal priest in 1818; served as rector of St. David's Church, Radnor, Pa., and subsequently returned to Delaware in 1848 as a missionary in New Castle County; served as rector of Christ Church Christiana Hundred, Greenville, Del., until his death.
