Alfred Charles Emery was born in 1919. He received his B.A. from the University of Utah in 1940, and his J.D. from the U in 1947. He assumed the position of President when James Fletcher was assigned to NASA in 1971. He stayed until 1973 when David P. Gardner was named President. Emery then resumed his previous position in the College of Law.
