Wedge, Maura K., 1936-1979
Born in Boston, Massachusetts, Maura K. Wedge (1936-1979) was an actress on Broadway and in film in the mid-twentieth century. She understudied the role of Nancy Sykes in the original 1963 production of “Oliver! ,” going on in the role 125 times, and then was Nancy in an “Oliver!” revival in 1965. She was also in "The Happiest Girl in the World" (1961) and "Man of La Mancha" (1967-1971). Wedge died from cancer at Deaconess Hospital in Boston in 1979.
