Herbert Thomas John Coleman was born in West Durham, Ontario, and died in Victoria, B.C. He was Dean of Arts and Science, University of British Columbia, and Head of the UBC Department of Philosophy and Psychology from 1920 to 1928. He was named Professor Emeritus in 1945. He retired to Sidney, B.C., and wrote numerous books of poetry for children.
