Wright, Henry T.
Confederate soldier.
Henry T. Wright was a 2nd Lt., New 1st Florida Infantry, Company E, serving under Captain Alexander Bethune McLeod. He was born on November 11, 1842, in Pensacola, Florida. He attended Knox Hill Academy near De Funiak Springs, Florida. The Academy, started in 1848 by the Reverend John Newton, was considered the educational career center of West Florida. He enlisted at Camp Walton in March of 1862. He was promoted to Captain of the Commissary in August of 1862.
He was wounded and admitted to Way Hospital in Meridian, Mississippi, on January 14, 1865, and was paroled in Greensboro, North Carolina, in May of 1865. Henry Wright died in February of 1899 and was buried in St. Johns Cemetery in Pensacola, Florida.
