Pearman, J. W.

John W. Pearman was born in Kentucky in 1832. He enlisted in the Second Nebraska Cavalry, Company F in October 1862. He was appointed major in that unit before mustering out in December 1863. In May 1864 he became a captain in the United States Volunteers and served as Assistant Quartermaster in Davenport, Iowa. Pearman's duty as Assistant Quartermaster was to compile a list of Iowa Civil War dead for the Quartermaster General in Washington. He later lived in Kansas and Nebraska and died in Omaha in 1896.
