White, Andrew Curtis, 1854-1936.

Andrew Curtis White was born in Kirkland, NY and died in Ithaca. He graduated from Hamilton College in 1881 and received a Ph.D. from Cornell in Classical Philology in 1885. He taught at the Cayuga Lake Academy in Aurora, N.Y., 1881-1882; served as an instructor in Latin and Greek from 1885-1889; and as Assistant Librarian in charge of accessions and classification from 1889 until his retirement in 1923. He was a member of Phi Beta Kappa, the American Library Association, the American Dialect Society, and the American Philological Association. He married Minnie Langworthy (1859-1951) in 1890. She was the daughter of John Martin Langworthy, one of the founders of Keuka College. They had three children: John Langworthy White (1892-1962), Marion Langworthy White (1895-1978), and Ruth Langworthy White (1899-1977).

Marion Langworthy White graduated from Cornell in 1918, where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and received a State Tuition Scholarship. She was a member of the Cornell Dramatic Club, Wayside-Aftermath, the Silver Bay Club, the '86 Memorial Stage (debate), the Woodford Stage (debate), and the Y.W.C.A. cabinet. She received her masters degree from Columbia University in 1927. She taught English in Oakfield, N.Y. (1918-1919), Cleveland, OH (1919-1920), Auburn, NY (1920-1922), and Passaic, NJ (1922-1943). From 1943 to 1949 she moved to Keuka Park and volunteered at Willard State Hospital.

Ruth Langworthy White attended Cornell from 1919-1920 and graduated from Ithaca College in 1928. She served as a librarian and music professor at Keuka College.

John Langworthy White married Marie Hughes Farr in 1919, and they had three daughters.
